In Session 2 of Draw Near, Fr. Charlie examines Hebrews, Chapters 4-6. The first chapter of Genesis is the paradigm for the entire narrative of human history. God is leading us out of chaos into Sabbath Rest. The Israelites crossing the Jordan left the chaos of the wilderness to enter the Promised Land. They saw this journey as fulfillment of the promised Sabbath Rest. And yet, the New Covenant holds out a greater promise of ultimate Sabbath Rest - full communion with the living God. The preacher of Hebrews calls us to enter fully and wholeheartedly into that greater Sabbath Rest. Today is the day of commitment. It comes down to obedience.
