The Blessing of Unity

Psalm 133:1: "Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!"

How the Lord longs for his people to live in unity! Sadly, the body of Christ is divided by our preferred style of worship, differing views of the Scripture, even our political leanings. This is not God's plan and purpose for us. For those who have been called by his name, those who put their faith in the person and work of Jesus, the truths we share should be so much greater than the things that differentiate between us.

What would it look like for us to put our differences aside, to humble ourselves as the sons and daughters of the King, and to work for the common good of our people? In these desperate times, we are called to pray for revival and for healing in our land, we are called to shine with God's light, and we are called to live holy lives, lives set apart from the corruption of this world.

What will bring joy to the heart of God in these times? The unity of his people. May we set aside our agendas and may we seek God's agendas. May we set aside our pride and humbly seek to be reconciled to one another. May we set aside our judgement and trust in the one true judge.

Are you seeking unity? Are you willing to humble yourself knowing that God is above every division, that his ways are not your ways, his thoughts are not your thoughts? God so far surpasses us! People will see the glory of God through his people when the people of God start living in alignment with the King and with each other. May that begin with us today!
