A Kingdom Mindset

Matthew 14:15-17: "Now when it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, 'This is a desolate place, and the day is now over, sends the crowds away to go into the villages and buy food for themselves.' But Jesus said, 'They need not go away; you give them something to eat.' They said to him, 'We have only five loaves here and two fish.'"

Jesus and the disciples had ministered to the crowds all day. People had been healed; they had been loved; and they had no desire to leave Jesus. The disciples were likely tired and hungry, and they moved into what seemed like a good common-sense plan: send the crowds away to get their dinners. Jesus, however, did not work by common sense, and he loved to care for his people and to demonstrate the abundant power and goodness of God.

Jesus instructed the disciples to feed the crowds. In doing so, Jesus invited the disciples into Kingdom work, a work that is not limited by the number of fish and loaves of bread. While the disciples saw the lack, Jesus saw the opportunity. Jesus took the fish and the bread, blessed them, and then had the disciples dispense dinner to everyone there. Jesus took the "only," and he multiplied it to abundance.

The Kingdom of God is one in which the Savior works miracles for his people. There is no obstacle too big; there is no limitation to what Jesus can do. The disciples struggled to see with Kingdom eyes. They saw human limitations. Jesus expanded their thinking and allowed them to participate in his miraculous provision.

How does the Lord want to expand your thinking today? How is he inviting you into his miraculous provision? We are now his disciples, and we are called to live with Kingdom eyes and mindsets. Take a moment today to ask the Lord to expand your vision and to show you how to walk in his miraculous power, love, and compassion. Then, you will see and know the goodness of God!
